Tweeter TW-AMT 100
BLAM introduces its Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter, crafted for Hi-Fi and professional audio applications. Leveraging over a decade of expertise in high-quality loudspeaker design, this innovative tweeter offers precise, natural, and dynamic sound reproduction. Featuring a hand-folded Kapton diaphragm with an etched aluminum conductor, the AMT design ensures exceptional impulse response, low distortion, and a wide frequency range from 2000 Hz to 32 kHz. Its compact yet powerful neodymium motor and CNC-machined aluminum horn enhance performance, providing directional control and a wide soundstage. With a sensitivity of 96 dB and a sleek 104 x 104 mm design, the BLAM AMT tweeter combines precision engineering and premium materials to elevate listening experiences.
Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter for Hi-Fi and professional applications
Over the past 10 years, BLAM has made the design of high-quality loudspeakers its specialty, and now occupies a place of its own in the car-audio market.
With this experience behind us, we’d now like to put it to good use in high-fidelity applications, by offering new loudspeaker solutions.
With this vision in mind, our team has developed an Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter for enthusiasts and professionals demanding precise, natural and dynamic highs.
Air Motion Transformer (AMT) technology represents a speaker concept that does not require a conventional voice coil.
Unlike conventional tweeter domes, the AMT diaphragm is a thin sheet of folded Kapton through which the signal travels via a sinuous conductor track etched in thin aluminum. To achieve high manufacturing precision, the foil is folded by hand using special tools.
This means that the loudspeaker does not move back and forth to produce the tones. Instead, the movement takes place in the folds, i.e. laterally, like an accordion bellows. This causes the air to accelerate in the convolutions and exit at the front. One of the advantages of this technology is that the folded diaphragm offers increased surface area for a reduced tweeter size. Coupled with the light weight of the Kapton diaphragm, this results in detailed, dynamic reproduction with excellent impulse response and low distortion. Its control is ensured by a powerful magnetic field derived from neodymium.
The square horn allows the tweeter to be oriented as required, to control directivity at an angle of 80° or 30°, horizontally or vertically.
To optimize the performance of this AMT technology, our team has chosen to maximize the tweeter’s emissive surface and control its response via a specially designed horn.
That’s why this CNC-machined aluminum part features four in-phase emission sections. The result is a gain in frequency response linearity and a notable opening in listening perception to guarantee a wide yet precise soundstage.
